Auricle acupuncture (ears) |
The Chinese have been using Integrative Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 2,000 years. This includes acupuncture, herbs and foods for health. The Chinese believe that food is the first medicine that needs to be used to heal and balance organs, through meridian systems in the body. Food therapy dates back to 2000 BCE. Foods are divided into four food groups and five tastes depending on their natures and characteristics. : warming, cooling, neutral, pungent, damp, Acupuncture needles inserted into points help to promote the movement of chi or energy flow throughout the body. It is believed that the blocks in our meridians that cause illness, and later on disease.
For the purposes of this article, I will focus only on Acupuncture. Personally, I have studied TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) for over 20 years. I have had acupuncture to balance an imbalance in my Spleen and Liver as well as to unblock my heart chakra when my Beloved John Armbruster died with me. I love Acupuncture. I believe in it’s efficacy and validity. It has worked for me very well. Last week I visited The Southwest School of Acupuncture in Boulder, Colorado.
A Teaching Clinic
There are many advantages to being seen in a teaching clinic. One, the practitioners are very attentive. Two, you also receive three people’s opinions regarding the best treatment for your condition. Thirdly, you can’t beat the price. I paid $17.00 per visit, plus another $20 for herbs. If you are under the age of 55 you pay slightly more: $26.00. At my hometown Acupuncture clinic, I pay $75 a visit plus the cost of herbs. There are many Acupuncture colleges and teaching clinics around the country. Santa Fe, NM, San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, Austin and Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, Portland, Oregon, Kenmore, WA, Watertown, MA, New York, NY, and one in North Carolina.
One of my readers and fellow Linked In connections, Sandra Gould commented that in North Carolina the Acupuncturists have a community day, where you can be seen for a lot less than their regular fee.
I originally went for exhaustion. I had driven over 2,000 miles in less than two weeks. No wonder I was worn out. The practitioner took my pulse first on my left and then on my right. I was familiar with this method of diagnosis. My pulse was wiry, which I expected. My spleen chi and liver chi were out of balance. After my first treatment I felt renewed to the point that I was up till 2:00 AM writing. I went back three more times experimenting with different points and asking questions specifically about sexual dysfunction and libido.
Libido Issues
On my third visit I asked to have the points for libido focused on. I am well connected and am very present. Within 10 minutes I could feel my root chakra open up. Energy began to rush upwards. THe surge of energy did not stop when the needles were removed, it continued long after. Herbs could also be dispensed which help raise the libido without estrogen or testosterone. The reason you don’t want to take these hormonal supplements is to reduce the risk of cancer.
PreMature Ejaculation or HTP
Premature ejaculation is what I affectionately call HTP, or Hair Trigger Penis. I focus on this subject in my book, because so many men have it and don’t recognize it for the problem that it is. Many women are divorcing their men for this reason. After 20 years of not having orgasms, while their men jump the gun, plenty of women are getting fed up. I don’t blame them. William Reich agrees with my diagnosis – underlying pent up anger and rage. Men with HTP have issues with anger, are usually passive aggressive with stuffed emotions and rage. This can be cured. An energy clearing works. Speak to me about a private session. Recognize that this is YOUR issue guys, not your wife’s. If you have sex more often, you will still have the same issue. Men need to take responsibility for this issue rather than laying blame on someone else. It’s okay we all have some type of issue. Wouldn’t you rather have your claim to fame to be just pent up emotions? It could be worse.
Erectile Dysfunction – ED
According to TCM, Erectile Dysfunction is due to insufficient kidney chi. In plain English, you are exhausted. You have worn out your body, and are running on fumes. You need kidney chi to get an erection. The kidney and heart work together. If you take the little blue pill to get an erection, you could have a heart attack. I don’t recommend taking pills for this issue. Rest, get acupuncture and take care of yourself while you are young. If you push yourself too hard, burning the candle at both ends, don’t exercise regularly, and eat poorly you will have issues after 50. Acupuncture does not remove or add. Instead it helps your body do what it already knows to do. You already have everything you need inside you. Acupuncture helps you become more self aware. It raises your confidence level by reminding you that you have the power to heal yourself.
I have been using acupuncture for 20 years. I highly recommend it for so many reasons. The thing I like best about it is that TCM sees the whole body, mind and spirit as one. Rather than segmenting parts of the body and treating only that part. Our body is one system. It needs to be seen as one. When I was laying on the table for the third treatment, an intern named, Isaac put two needles in my upper arm. I instantly felt the presence of God. I had never had these points needled before. I asked him what point it was. Isaac told me: Palace of Heaven. It is one of the only 10 Window of Heaven Points in Acupuncture. The feeling I had was expansive and full. I felt connected to all that is. I was in Heaven!

Hello, Jennifer. I happened to come across your site…and found it resonated with me. As I’ve been a holistic practitioner for many years, we seem to have much in common. I particularly appreciated your referencing Dr. Wilhelm Reich, who provided a watershed in the field of “body-based” psychotherapy (and in acceptance of human sexuality as a natural, normal part of our lives). Even today, I find myself horrified…as I reflect back on the Neanderthal-like, extraordinarily toxic attitude found in Europe and the US, not so many years ago (most particularly associated with the Christian Church).
While I’m not a licensed acupuncturist, I’ve accumulated a modicum of knowledge of TCM through the years, and have engaged in a bit of “needling” of myself and family members with salutary results. A few months ago, I found myself in “crisis,” with total urinary retention (a genuine nightmare). The urologist (after a few weeks of catheterization) wanted me in an O.R. for a surgical procedure. I demurred, thinking that a more “conservative” regimen of Chiropractic and Acupuncture MIGHT prove fruitful. As it turns out, I was right…and have found myself enjoying pretty much 100% recovery (in terms of BOTH urination and sexual function)…which has been NOTHING less than a miracle. This involved several treatment sessions with two very experienced Korean TCM doctors, Chinese herbs…and some periodic needling of my own. Perhaps you’d be interested in “comparing notes.”
Respectfully…
Hello, Dr. Halle,
Congratulations! I would love to hear what was used. If I am able to use acupuncture, homeopathy, and herbs that is my first line of defense and healing. I also recognize how great a part the mind plays in our healing.
Asparagus is a wonderful healer for the urinary tract as well. You might try a plate of it sauteed rather than boiled. Even grilled. Add half a cup of coke (yes, I don’t do soda at all either) however, coke and asparagus together have a natural reactivity that cleans out the urinary tract so that natural urination takes place. I don’t do the coke either, but asparagus quite frequently.
I am glad to hear you found recovery.
Wishing you all the best!
