Skyrocket Health, Reduce Cortisol, Anxiety & Stress With Diaphragmatic Breathing

Breathing is a simple thing, right? The problem is most are breathing shallowly rather than deep slow diaphragmatic belly breathing.

Seriously?!?

Yes. You are most likely breathing backwards. Inverted breathing is what most of us do unknowingly. When we breath backward we reduce the amount of oxygen we can inhale. Breathing shallowly means we are doing inverted chest breathing rather than deep belly breathing.

Reduce Stress, Cortisol Easily

Twenty years ago, I discovered while lying on my acupuncturist’s table that I was holding my breath. I was barely breathing. This important realization allowed me to cure my anxiety. If you know of Wim Hoff, his deep breathing emphasizes belly breath or diaphragmatic breathing.

Breathing is a simple thing, right? The problem is most are breathing shallowly rather than deep slow diaphragmatic belly breathing. Years later, additional information has been discovered that highlights that trauma causes this type of breathing and we need to change it to live long and prosper! (My little salute to Star Trek (correction).

Constant State of Fight or Flight?

Shallow breathing is what I have discovered that trauma victims (narcissistic abuse, sexual trauma, and low self-esteem) have in common. When we breathe shallowly we activate the sympathetic nervous system keeping us in a state of high anxiety (fight or flight).

Imagine your body being on high alert for years, even decades like most of us. We end up with belly fat, or anxiety, an acid body environment where disease flourishes, like cancer. No one wants that.

Such A Simple Thing As Breath

I have always maintained that the simplest of tools creates the greatest impact. Just changing your breathing into diapragmatic breath rather than high inverted or shallow breathing changes everything for us. Wim Hoff has been challenged and tested on so many levels illuminating that breathwork changes our cellular structure, self-esteem and even eliminates anxiety.

Set Your Phone Alarm For The Top of Every Hour

We need to be reminded often to change a pattern that has been a lifetime effort. Imagine if you have been breathing shallowly for thirty, forty or even fifty years? What would it take to get you to change this permaanently? Effort and awareness for sure are needed. We forget and fall back into old programming that is autonomic.

  1. Set your alarm begining at 8:00 AM. Reminder to BREATHE DIAPHRAGMATICALLY. Deep belly breathing three times each hour.
  2. Notice how differently you feel when you breathe deeply.
  3. You become more present.
  4. Your body begins to relax and feel more charged up.
  5. Increased oxygen helps us mentally with cognition aand memory.
  6. We feel more calm.
  7. Cortisol and stress are reduced.

Move Beyond Trauma Programming

Old prograamming doesn’t have to be a way of life. Changing the way we think is part of this transformation and healing. I am sure you have heard me rave about how mantras changed my life and health. Breathing is a part of my transformation. It is why I am constantly saying, “BREATHE!” We need to be reminded to shift from the old programming. Breathing is transformational. We can eliminate pain by breathing deeply. Breathwork done in a circular way brings up the invisible to the surface so that we can feel and clear it.

The simplest of things leads to the greatest transformation. I can’t say this often enough. Letting go of the thoughts is done by breathing and exhaling slowly and deeply. Making a sound like a rush of water expelling our breath out loud is also a way to let go and clear out energy.

What We Can’t See…..

Beneath the surface are old programs that continue to steer our lives. We need to comandeer our ship and take the power back from what our parents programmed us with. What we can’t see can hurt us. Finding a way to eliminate what we can’t see if imperative for permanent transformation. How can we do this?

  • commit to yourself for transformation
  • be determined that there is something better than what you feel now
  • become aware of your thoughts
  • ask yourself questions (query is the fastest path to an inner journey)
  • get to know yourself on a deep level
  • breathe
  • forgive
  • find gratitude for it all!

I do this for twenty-two minutes before sleep and wake up feeling focused, refreshed with a brand new positive perspective. It works like magic! Begin with eleven minutes.
